Quality Materials Ensure a Safe, Non-Toxic SaunaSunlighten saunas are made with 100% premium wood throughout the entire cabin – no hidden plywood is used. The Solocarbon heaters contain a proprietary blend of FDA-approved materials and are heat-sealed to withstand temperatures above and beyond the operating temperature to ensure no unhealthy gases are released during heating. Plus, extensive third-party testing has been conducted to ensure all of the materials are safe and non-toxic.
Health Benefits of Infrared SaunaDetoxification
Infrared light is the invisible part of the sun’s spectrum, which has the ability to gently and comfortably penetrate human tissue to produce a host of health benefits. It’s the same spectrum that stimulates plant growth due to cell generation.
A Sunlighten infrared sauna stimulates the circulatory system, causing the heart to beat more vigorously and blood vessels to dilate, which helps cleanse the circulatory system and more fully oxygenate the body’s cells. Better blood circulation means more toxins flow from deep tissue to the skin’s surface to help with cell health and the immune system.
Raising core body temperature is key to keeping you healthy. Although Sunlighten saunas heat you up differently than a fever, the increased body temperature provides similar benefits, including white blood cell and T-cell production to help ward off viruses. This heat produces a deep, detoxifying sweat below the skin’s surface, where most toxins reside. Your sweat then pushes out the toxins, cleansing your body and rejuvenating your skin. Sunlighten saunas are the only ones to have been proven to raise core body temperature by 3 degrees.
Sunlighten saunas have been shown to aid in weight loss by heating your core temperature to induce sweating. Increases in blood flow and heart rate are a result, which, much like moderate exercise, has shown to help you lose weight. Saunas also help with faster and more effective muscle recovery, which helps you get back to the gym, sport or activity more quickly.
Relaxation is more important to health than most people realize. Stress impacts not just the mind but the body, as well. Infrared therapy soothes your mind by enveloping your body in relaxing warmth. Our sauna is designed for maximum comfort, allowing you to not only loosen your body, but loosen your mind. Practicing mindful meditation while in a sauna therapy session can also help with mental stress reduction. Alone time is maximized, giving you an opportunity to reflect and move on from the stressors of the day.
Our infrared sauna, because it raises your heart rate and increase circulation, replicates a cardiovascular workout, which we term “passive cardio.” Your heart is a muscle and working it makes it stronger. A stronger cardiovascular system helps capillaries deliver more oxygen to cells in your muscles. For people with injuries or conditions that preclude them from cardio activity, Sunlighten saunas can help serve as an alternative for needed cardio benefits.
Near infrared (NIR) light therapy is the science of photobiomodulation which uses invisible, near infrared wavelengths between 700 and 1,200 nm (nanometers) to deliver energy to cells. NIR is the shortest wavelength and penetrates the skin’s surface more effectively than mid or far infrared. Scientific research shows that when delivered at the vital wavelength of 880nm, without extreme heat or light, NIR promotes skin renewal, cell health and tissue growth. Similar NIR LED (light-emitting diodes) were originally developed for NASA in order to grow plants in space, replicating the sun.
Heat, in and of itself, is great for recovery, temporary pain relief and inflammation. However, infrared light, because it heats the body from within, can penetrate further down into the joints, muscles and tissues, increasing circulation and blood flow.
Good circulation is critical for proper healing. Red blood cells carry oxygen and nutrients to the site of the strain or inflammation, which helps to create new blood vessels and tissues at the site. The more red and white blood cells that can get delivered to muscles, the quicker they rebuild. Building muscle not only increases strength, but also boosts metabolism, reduces risk of injury, improves bone density and helps with excess body fat.
